Ecological Context
Lance-leaved tickseed is native to the Midwest and Southeast US and to Ontario, where it occupies open, dry, sandy habitats including sand dunes, oak-pine savanna, prairie remnants, and dry road banks. In the Ottawa-Gatineau region it is introduced and persists locally along roadsides and disturbed sites. Its FACU wetland status and drought tolerance reflect an affinity for well-drained, often nutrient-poor substrates.
