Ecological Context
A calcareous fen specialist found in seasonally wet meadows, marly lakeshores, gravelly seeps, and shorelines. Strictly associated with alkaline, calcium-rich substrates where competition is naturally limited. In Michigan, it is the commonest Parnassia species, frequenting calcareous sandy and gravelly shores, interdunal flats, and sedge meadows. An indicator species for high-quality wetland habitats.
